Callistemon spp., commonly known as bottlebrush, is a striking evergreen shrub or small tree prized for its vibrant, brush-like flowers. Native to Australia, it is well adapted to Cyprus’ warm climate, flourishing in full sun and well-draining soils. This hardy and low-maintenance plant blooms from spring to summer, attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies. With narrow, leathery green leaves and flower spikes in red, pink, white, or yellow, it adds vivid color to hedges, borders, or containers. Once established, it becomes drought-tolerant and only requires occasional pruning to maintain shape. It is non-toxic and a great choice for ornamental landscaping.
